Key Largo Beach Guide, Florida Keys

The Florida Keys contain many beaches and parks throughout .The Florida Bay and the Everglades run along one side while the Atlantic ocean runs along the other. Key Largo Beaches consist of 2 state parks, and hotel, motel and resorts private beaches.

If you are not staying at a hotel and want to check out Key Largo’s public beaches, your best bet is John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park located at MM102.5 and explore the two man made beaches, each with its own distinct personality. Cannon beach is the parks primary snorkeling beach, where you will find the remnants of an early Spanish shipwreck approximately 100 feet offshore. Far beach, with it’s palm trees is a relaxing place to swim, or just sit and enjoy the sun. Any swimming or snorkeling done outside of the designated Harry Harris Park Key Largoswimming areas is prohibited, unless a diver down flag is properly displayed.

At the south end of Key Largo and entering into Tavernier you will find Harry Harris Park at MM92.5. A city park popular with local residents and day trippers from Monroe County. It is fronted by a stone jetty that creates a tidal pool ideal for swimming, the water is crystal clear and there is plenty of fish to see. The park features playgrounds, ball fields, and an in-line skating area.
